Art/Art History department now accepting applications for part-time faculty hiring pools

The James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History is accepting applications for inclusion in part-time faculty hiring pools in all programs including fine arts, design, and art history. To see a listing of specific pools, please visit: http://art.wayne.edu/resources/part-time.php.

An applicant may specify which existing courses the applicant is qualified to teach. The department is not seeking proposals of new courses.

Part-time faculty generally teach one course and occasionally two courses per semester. In art and design, a three-credit course can involve five and one-half contact hours per week. In art history and in seminars, a three-credit course can involve three contact hours per week. Part-time faculty are responsible for instructing students during the course hours, evaluating student work completed in the course, and holding office hours on a regular basis.

To be eligible for consideration, a candidate should possess a master's degree in a field of specialization appropriate to the area of assignment and be able to demonstrate an ability to teach in a remote/online environment.

Candidates should submit a portfolio including the following:

  • Letter of application (the letter of application must identify the specific hiring pool or pools being applied for)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • A link to an online portfolio of creative work and/or writing
  • A link to an online portfolio of applicable student works in art and/or design
  • Brief statement of teaching philosophy (not more than one page in length)
  • Please send the materials via email: art@wayne.edu
Attention department chair, Re: PTF application

Please note this is a request for applications to be included in a hiring pool only. Acceptance into a hiring pool does not represent an offer of employment in the Department of Art and Art History.
