About the department

Located in the heart of Midtown Detroit, the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art, Art History, and Design is educating the next generation of artists, art historians, and designers. Our purpose is to prepare students to apply their skills, creatively solve complex problems, and build meaningful and successful careers in an increasingly dynamic professional landscape. We do this by offering a broad range of degree programs, tracks, and area concentrations to fit all students who want to develop their creativity and knowledge of art, design, and art history.
