This season’s host of MetroArts Detroit is Wayne State University student Amana Moore.

Wayne State University’s “MetroArts Detroit” will debut its next season on Monday, July 10, on Detroit Public Television’s Create Channel 56.3. Episodes will air weekly on Mondays at 12:30 p.m., with repeat airings on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

Now in its 12th season, the show brings awareness to up-and-coming talents while also supporting established artists who have worked in the Metro Detroit area as advocates and community leaders.

The new season of “MetroArts Detroit” includes 14 shows produced with Wayne State student crew members at the 5057 Midtown studio in the Maccabees Building. The Midtown studio is a cooperative venture between Wayne State University’s College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts’ Department of Communication and Detroit Public Television.

Each show is comprised of three segments, with guests discussing their current work and future endeavors. Depending on the discipline, artists either perform or showcase their creative works. This season’s host is Wayne State student Amana Moore.

The show's executive producer is Kim Piper-Aiken, associate professor of teaching and journalism area head, who is retiring from a distinguished career at the university. And after 12 years with “MetroArts Detroit,” this is her final season behind the camera.

“It has been my privilege to work with hundreds of Wayne State student crew members over the years,” Piper-Aiken said “I have also enjoyed meeting so many fabulous guests who have appeared on ‘MetroArts.’”
