MetroArts Detroit - Season 7 Begins Airing on Detroit Public Television, July 13
The seventh season of MetroArts Detroit, produced at Wayne State University, will begin airing on Detroit Public Television, WTVS TV, Channel 56, Fridays at 5:30 p.m., starting on July 13, 2018.
The new season of MetroArts Detroit includes 14 shows produced with Wayne State student crew members at the 5057 Midtown Studio. The Midtown Studio is a cooperative venture between Wayne State University's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts' Department of Communication and Detroit Public TV.
MetroArts features artists from the Metropolitan Detroit area who represent the disciplines of visual, performing and communication arts. The musical guests on the first show are folk duo Joe Kidd and Sheila Burke, as well as photographer Tyler Ezell and 3-D artist Ramon Lavarro Jordan. Musical guests in later shows include the Cuban Jazz sounds of Tumbao Bravo, jazz standards from the Dave Vessella Ensemble, singer-songwriters Keegan Cruz, Bevlov, Noah de Leon, and Alex Way, along with rockers Kaleido, Mexican Knives, Mango Lane, Empty Houses, and Ryan Allen and His Extra Arms. Country noir sounds of The Whiskey Charmers and rap/hip-hop artists from We Are Culture Creators. Award-winning fine artists including Nicole MacDonald, James Homer Brown, Geno Harris, Matt Gordon, Tim Burkeare also scheduled to be featured. The show will also showcase fashion, dance, film and video producers, plus comedy and improv theater.

The goal of the show is to bring awareness to up-and-coming artists as well as support those artists who've worked their entire lives in the Metro Detroit area by being arts advocates and taking active roles in their communities. Each show is comprised of three segments, with guests who talk about their current work and their future endeavors. Depending on the discipline, the artists either perform or showcase their creative works during their segments. This season's host is Wayne State student Larry Wallace. The producers are Kim Piper-Aiken and Gary Cendrowski.

Episode 711 - Guests include fashion designer Kenyetta Caldwell from the Creo by Keca collection, painter James Homer Brown and the power pop band Ryan Allen and His Extra Arms
