Former CFPCA Theatre Student Sam Richardson to Star in New Sitcom "Detroiters" Premiering Tonight on Comedy Central

Sam Richardson, a Detroit native, received an early start in his acting career at CFPCA's theatre program. Tonight he will take the screen alongside co-star Tim Robinson on Comedy Central's new sitcom "Detroiters."

Richardson and Robinson were both in touring companies for Second City theatre group when it was in Detroit. While Robinson graduated from Clarkston High School, Richardson attended the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and studied theater at Wayne State University.

The show "Detroiters," stars Richardson and Robinson, who also created, co-wrote and co-executive produced the series. According to the Detroit Free Press: "In the series, Richardson and Robinson play struggling advertising men in Detroit who make local TV commercials. The plot was inspired partly by the classic Detroit ads they grew up watching, including the Mel Farr Superstar and Gordy from ABC Warehouse campaigns."

Future episodes to include guest appearances from comedian and Detroit native Keegan-Michael Key; WXYZ-TV anchorwoman Glenda Lewis; and former Detroit Piston Rick Mahorn. Many Detroit landmarks will also appear throughout the series, including Belle Isle, Eastern Market, the Ambassador Bridge, the West Canfield Historic District and more!

"Detroiters" kicks off tonight at 10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central. For more information about the show, visit www.cc.com/shows/detroiters.
