Wayne State's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts shares in the 2015 Noel Night merriment throughout Midtown. Detroit's 43rd Noel Night is December 5, 2015. Wayne State CFPCA contributes numerous events and invites you to include these as you plan what to attend around Midtown that Saturday evening.

Madcap antics ensue backstage as the curtain almost doesn't "go up." A cast of outlandish and somewhat familiar characters bumble their way toward opening night of their annual production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol. If the company fails to impress the inspector, the show may not go on. Ticket prices: $26 - $32, $15 for students. Concessions are available for sale during pre-show and at intermission.

Open Studio Exhibition of Works by MFA and MA Candidates
Graduate Students in WSU's James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History host an open studio exhibition in conjunction with Noel Night festivities. The open house features work by MFA and MA candidates working in a variety of media. The WSU Graduate Studios are located on the right just inside the main entrance to the Elaine L. Jacob Gallery at 480 W. Hancock Street.

Dance Company presents It's Not How People Move It's What Moves Them. The work will be performed at 6:30 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. at the Allesee Dance Theatre. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased by calling the box office at (313) 577-2972, visiting the Hilberry Theatre box office at 4743 Cass Avenue on the corner of Hancock Street, or ordering online at wsushows.com. Created collaboratively with the dancers, It's Not How People Move, It's What Moves Them is brought to life through a simple question asked to each company dancer: When did you know that you wanted to dance? Drawing on their autobiographical experiences, each dancer tells their story, revealing the impact of dance on their lives. Dance, in this theatrical evening, offers a means by which we can connect with the power of expression and personal agency. The program also includes newly commissioned dances by New York City-based choreographer Anna Sperber, WSU alumnus Jordan Holland and WSU student choreographer Monica Brady-Barnard. The production takes broad inspiration from a quote by choreographer Pina Bausch, "I'm not interested in how people move but what moves them."
