CFPCA Offers Extensive Lineup of Noel Night Activities Saturday, December 2
Wayne State University's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts (CFPCA) will once again display its robust participation in Midtown Detroit's 45th Annual Noel Night on Saturday, December 2, 2017. CFPCA students, staff and alumni will engage the community with a variety of events, activities and performances.

The James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History is pleased to present Phenomena in Landscape: Paintings, Prints, Drawings and Photographs by Jim Nawara. This exhibition presents a selection of works made during Nawara's 46-year career as a Painting and Drawing Professor at the Department of Art and Art History Wayne State University's James Pearson Duffy.

Folk Art from Oaxaca: Eight Artists, Eight Voices, curated by Alejandra Muñúzuri. The exhibition dates are October 27 through December 15, 2017. Works by the following artists and cooperatives are featured in the exhibition: Mario Castellanos and Reina Ramirez, Giovanni Melchor, Tribús Mixes, Fernando Peguero and Leticia Blanco, and Manuel Reyes and Maricela Gómez.
Folk Art from Oaxaca: Eight Artists, Eight Voices coincides with the department's community outreach programming, which includes Southwest Detroit, a Latinx-based community that actively embraces art programs that are influential to the city.

The Winter Art and Retail Market (WARM) is a fun and festive pop-up holiday marketplace that will be located in Wayne State University's Woodward and Warren Park. The marketplace will feature limited-edition items and one-of-a-king objects from more than 50 local businesses and artists. The WARM is a collaboration between Wayne State's Office of Economic Development, James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History and TechTown Detroit.

The Department of Music will introduce children to the world of music at the Instrument Petting Zoo! Guests will have a chance to try out one or more of the following musical instruments: violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trombone or trumpet. Music Education students will guide your child to making their first sounds on an instrument and set them up for a love of making music!

Get ready for a rollicking romp around Midtown in this exhilarating scavenger hunt presented by the Wayne State University College of Fine Performing and Communication Arts! Your team of four or more will decipher clues that will lead you to Noel Night destinations, where you will take photos of your "answers". The first three teams to cross the finish line with the most correct answers will receive a jolly pack of prizes. Check-in at the southwest corner of Warren and Woodward Avenues. The reindeer round up begins at 4:45 p.m. -- teams must be checked in by 4:55 p.m. to participate. The starting bells begin at 5:00 p.m.
