The Business of Art

Busine$$ of Art

In an evolving artistic world, many artists don't realize the importance of incorporating entrepreneurial skills into their craft. A balance of creative vision and business savvy is essential to any artist's success in today's industry. In an effort to further explore the topic of business and entrepreneurship in art, Wayne State University College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts (CFPCA) created the Business of Art. The program geared toward alumni but open to students and the community was kicked off with an inaugural event in 2014 at Elaine L. Jacob Gallery and the Schaver Music Recital Hall both located in the historic Old Main Building. We followed that with another larger panel event in 2015.  In 2016 we modified the model to be an alumni lecture series to directly mentor current students and interested alumni.

If you are a CFPCA Alumni and are interested in being a guest alumni lecturer, contact Patrick Field @ 313-577-1087 or patrick.field@wayne.edu to discuss the possibilites.
